Ekrem IMAMOGLU, who was elected as Mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IMM) and was also elected as the chairman of the Board of Directors of Istanbul Water and Sewerage Administration (ISKI), received the Mayoral Mandate from Mr Ali YERLIKAYA who is IMM Deputy Chairman and Istanbul Governor.

 After Mr IMAMOGLU received his certificate of election from Istanbul Election Board, he became the mayor of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, took over the mayoral mandate from Mr Ali YERLIKAYA, Deputy Chairman of IMM and Governor of Istanbul at the City Hall in Sarachane.

Governor Ali YERLIKAYA made a brief speech as follows: “I am handing over the duty of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Mayor to Mr. Ekrem IMAMOGLU, which I have been carrying out by Proxy since 7th May. I congratulate him and wish him success. I would also like to thank the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality family, whom I have been working alongside for a short time, as well as my fellow townsman.”                                                                                                                                        

Istanbul Mayor Mr Ekrem IMAMOGLU also gave a short speech at the handover ceremony and spoke as follows: “I received the mayoral seal of the IMM. I have just taken the certificate of election. Absolutely, at this point in time, I am the one who is feeling the sacred nature of being the mayor of such an ancient city the most. I hope Allah does not bring to shame I hope to do what is right, in order to look after this city, its history, its spirituality and everything that pertains to it from the part to the present. I hope and wish to put forth a management mentality that avoids mistakes. This is a period of struggle. I promise in front of everyone to act in character to together serve to our Istanbul, the largest city in Turkey and the largest city in Europe.”
