“Life Bridge from Istanbul to Yemen”

In Yemen, which has been under occupation since 2015 and the conflict continues, 17 million people live on the brink of starvation. Yemeni people, who are long-suffering from war, death threat, hunger, epidemic diseases and helplessness, are trying to hold on to life with humanitarian aid.

İSKİ lent a helping hand to Yemeni people, who are notably at the critical point of food safety and supply, emergency and immediate treatment needs.

An exhibition displaying human tragedy in Yemen was held at İSKİ between 31 December 2018 and 4 January 2019. Following the exhibition, the conference named “YEMEN IS DYING, GIVE YOUR HAND” was held at the İSKİ Conference Hall on 4 January 2019.

A monetary aid campaign with the motto “LIFE BRIDGE FROM ISTANBUL TO YEMEN” has started by BEM-BİR-SEN Union Representation in İSKİ, with the support of all İSKİ staff, 54.618,00 TL (Turkish lira) monetary aid was collected in a one week and delivered with intent to sustain Yemeni people and to satisfy their urgent needs.

On 1 March 2019, Levent Uslu, BEM-BİR-SEN Chairman and Kemal Özdal, SADAKATAŞI Charity President made a gratitude visit to Fatih Turan, İSKİ General Director.

General Director Fatih Turan thanked the representatives of BEM-BİR-SEN and SADAKATAŞI
