THE FIRST FLOATING SOLAR PANEL OF TURKEY WAS PUT INTO USE

The first floating solar panel of Turkey was put into use in Büyükçekmece.

The first floating solar panel which has 250KWp in total was put into service within the scope of the mutual project which is conducted by İSKİ and Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Energy Inc.

Hayri BARACCI; General Secretary of Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality, Nihat MACİT; Deputy General Secretary, Fatih TURAN General Director of İSKİ and Fatih SALTABAŞ; General Manager of Energy Inc. examined the power plant thoroughly in Büyükçekmece Dam.

The power plant, consisted of 960 polycrystal photovoltaic panels in 260 W power, in Büyükçekmece Dam which is the one of water resources in İstanbul, presently have 250 KWp. Following of the results of the project, the system will be enlarged and it is planned to be applied to other water resources of İstanbul as well. Therefore, it is aimed to reduce evaporation in water resources in summer months and to provide contribution for energy production of İstanbul.
