ISKI was deemed worthy of third place in the category of utilities of “Productivity Projects Awards” organized annually by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology in order to encourage efforts to increase productivity, with the intention to increase the competitiveness of our country and to ensure an efficiency-based sustainable structure for the economy. Previously, same project won the “Global Gold Award” in the category of green energy of international Green World Awards.

“Floating Solar Power Plant Project”

“Establishment of Floating Solar Power Plant in Freshwater Resources of Istanbul and Evaluation of Its Productivity” Project, winning the productivity project award in the category of utilities, aims to significantly reduce the cost of energy as a result of meeting the energy needs for the activities of the administration with its potential renewable energy sources. With the energy panels installed on the surface of Büyükçekmece Lake as two different flotation systems, electricity power is produced (315,000 kWh) which can meet the annual electricity need of 202 houses. This project prevents the emission of 164 tons CO₂ per year and reduces exhaust emissions (carbon emissions) by 13 tons CO₂. This result means an environmental benefit equal to 135 vehicles withdraw from traffic and 4,200 trees planted.

The award ceremony of the competition, organized to increase the awareness of productivity throughout the country and to increase the sharing of knowledge and experience among administrations and organizations, was held on 18th December 2018 in Ankara and hosted by the Ministry of Science, Industry and Technology. The award in the category of utilities was presented to Fatih Turan, ISKI General Director, by Mustafa Varank, the Minister of Industry and Technology
